The Position

SWC is looking for a candidate with 2-3 years experience as a consultant with a demonstrated interest in web technologies and analytical development. You'll work on projects that scrape the web for content, build models that make sense, and try your best to derive meaning from complex regulated environments. We seek someone who demonstrates an insatiable interest in learning, a quantitative bent, and a well-rounded personality. Here's a bit more detail:

Has 2-3 years experience in a consulting or technical field
STEM Background in engineering, computer science, math, biology or chemistry
Graduated from an accredited 4-year university
Held a cumulative 3.3 GPA in STEM-related courses
Pays attention and cares about quality
Has good communication skills
Can work out of our office in Cambridge, MA

The Process

It's pretty simple. We'll connect with you by phone for a quick behavioral interview and then hold an in-person interview. There's a brief homework assignment involved. If you're accepted, you'll begin work on a contract basis very shortly, after which an opportunity for full employment may be extended to you.

The Work

We work with fortune 500 companies and startups alike in diverse industries, serving as their dedicated technical arm. We support many technical products, build bespoke software, and develop thoughtful approaches to our clients toughest issues. As such you'll need some familiarity with programming and analytical model development (SQL, python, etc). We expect you to be able to pick up any programming language (within reason), and we're looking for hackers (someone who can pull together a solution with any tools needed to get the job done). Some of the things we may ask you to do include:

Structuring and managing large-scale data sets through SQL
Writing a tiny web scraper in python
Code contribution and git management
Integration with a third-party API and development of our in-house APIs
Understanding client management techniques and project management
Building analytical models
Conducting business development activities

The Opportunity

The Small Web Co. is very small. We have an apprentice, several contractors, and key advisors that give us the support we need to grow. We are constantly looking for the right individuals to join our team, but that process is fairly difficult for several reasons. You'll get direct exposure to our founder, clients, and closely-held advisors. Our founder and advisors have nearly a decade of experience in management consulting and deep technical expertise - so you'll learn ALOT, and you'll be a big part of the team immediately. You'll receive lot's of exposure to different parts of running a startup.

You'll also get an oppurtunity to work with the world's greatest clients. Seriously - startups changing the game in pharma, higher education and governement contracting just to name a few. You'll also work with more established clients and help them navigate mature industries and bring innovative ideas to them so they can continue to compete in this modern economy.
